We know that choosing the right joiner for your project can be a bit daunting, especially when you’re getting recommendations from all angles, often made by people you don’t know or haven’t worked with before.

To help simplify the process, we’ve created this guide to help you find the perfect match for your needs. While we’d love to assist with every project, we recognise that we may not always be the ideal choice—and that’s perfectly fine!

Here are some key points to consider:

A Guide to Making the right choice for your project:

Define Your Project’s Scope and Style

Think about the following:

– Is this a bespoke, high-value project, or something more straightforward?

– Are there specific design elements or unique challenges you want to address?

-Do you need help with the design?

-Would you like something making exactly as you’d like it, or the way someone wants to make it for you?

-Are you looking for basic materials or something more fancy?

-Can this be made in your home or does it require a specialist workshop?

-How big is the project- can it be made by one person or does it require a team?

-How long do you have available for installation?

-Are you willing to do some of the work yourself to bring costs down?

For example- Our speciality is in high-value bespoke joinery projects, emphasising craftsmanship, precision, and a tailored approach. We design everything to suit your specific needs, and manufacture and pre-finish everything in our workshop to achieve the best possible finish and reduce installation time as much as possible. Other than give us some space to work in, you won’t need to do anything further.

An alternative option would be to employ a joiner, who will cut and assemble everything in your home, and either paint on site or leave that bit to you. They wouldn’t be likely to have access to the range of materials we can source, but that might not matter for your specific project and is well worth considering.

Every project is different too! If your project leans toward general carpentry (such as hanging doors/skirting board etc) or simpler storage solutions, this would typically suit a site joiner, rather than a workshop.

Look for Relevant Experience

Someone might have been recommended because they did a good job at one thing (such as hanging doors), but can they make the wardrobes you’d searching for? Sometimes attributes such as trustworthiness, quality of workmanship and value for money transfer to other projects. Sometimes, skills, equipment/machinery, specific knowledge and experience does not- it all depends on the project!

Not every joiner has the same expertise. Some focus on kitchens, some on wardrobes, some on fitting doors for example. We excel in crafting bespoke, unique pieces of fitted furniture.

**Tip:** Don’t hesitate to ask potential joiners for examples of their previous work to gauge their experience.

Check Their Materials and Finishes

Quality matters!

Ask about the materials—are they premium, sustainable, and appropriate for your project’s needs? We take pride in sourcing top-quality materials and ensuring every finish is impeccable. If you’re evaluating joiners, make sure their standards align with yours.

Communication and Collaboration

Good communication makes for a smoother project! Look for someone who:

– Is attentive to your ideas and goals.

– Provides clear timelines and keeps you updated.

– Is open to collaboration and adapting as needed.

We prioritise open communication and work closely with clients to turn their visions into reality, no matter how complex

Budget Considerations

Finding the right balance between cost and quality is crucial. While bespoke work tends to be more expensive due to its custom nature, it’s an investment in durability and uniqueness. With bespoke furniture, it also has a big impact on what solutions are available to you. If your budget is tight, a joiner who specialises in standard solutions might be the best option.

The key thing here, is to decide on what is most important. Is budget everything? or is it more about getting exactly what you want? Or a certain texture, special drawer or something urent?… make sure you tell the people giving you quotes so they can offer the right proposal for your needs.

When comparing multiple suppliers for a project, it’s crucial to be comparing the same proposals!
