Having faced previous disappointments with other home improvement projects, particularly around poor cabinet alignment and visible joint lines, they were determined to ensure this display wall was different.
A Collaborative Approach to Design
We began by working closely with Sally and Jack to create a layout that maximised the available wall space without overwhelming the room. The goal was to take up minimal floor space while ensuring there was ample storage for their cherished belongings.
The couple wanted:
- A stylish display wall for photographs and ornaments.
- A practical, elegant space to house their television.
- Hidden storage for hardware like their Sky box, with discreet cable routing.
- Seamless design with no visible joints or misaligned cabinets.
To meet these needs, we incorporated a hidden access door inside one of the cabinets. This clever feature allowed easy access to sockets and cables without compromising the aesthetics of the display wall.
The Perfect Finish
Sally and Jack wanted a classic, timeless look. We achieved this with a spray-painted finish in subtly contrasting tones from Farrow & Ball – carefully selected to complement the cottage’s character.
Additional design details included:
- Push-to-open doors for a clean, handleless look.
- Dimmable spotlighting on each shelf to create warmth and highlight their favourite pieces.
- Invisible cable management to maintain the unit’s sleek lines.
The result? A display wall that blends effortlessly into their home, adding sophistication and functionality.
