Project brief:
We helped to brighten up this ‘lost’ under-stairs space with a collector’s vinyl records.
Objective
The aim of this project was to both create a storage solution for a large vinyl collection and also create a point of interest in the hallway of this home. Storage was required for different-sized records and also some CDs.
Our Approach
We initially surveyed the space and calculated how many shelves we could fit to optimise record storage. We then used reference images combined with 3d modelling, to create the desired ‘random’ shelving effect.
We discussed various colour schemes and decors for this project, but due to the colourful nature of many of the record sleeves, opted for a painted white finish to let the artwork stand out for itself!
The Outcome
Whilst we don’t have photos of this space since it has been decorated, the before/after images do show a huge transformation to this space! What is not shown is the large amount of floor space that has been realised elsewhere in the house now all of the records are in their new home, on our shelving.
Our client is delighted with the project and enjoys showing off different records from time to time.
Whilst we are big advocates of bold and striking colour schemes, this example shows how white is still useful for blending storage into a space and highlighting the items on display. Not forgetting what a great use of space this is!
